I absolutely adore L’ovedbaby’s clothing. This brand has all of the elements I look for in organic baby clothes. The fabric is nice and thick, but still breathable for warmer months. It is super soft and gets softer with each wash.

When my eldest was born, we brought her home to a wardrobe filled with pieces from both the boys and girls sections of our favorite children’s stores. We dressed her in blues and greens, in pinks and purples, and in grays, blacks, and whites. We dressed her in bowties and trousers that made folks come up and tell us how precious our "little boy" was. We dressed her in skirts that most people would definitely associate with little girls.

On #GivingTuesday in November, Bank of America presented new coats to more than 200 members of Girls Inc. of the Greater Capital Region.

"Thomas was a small boy, small structured, and he got picked-on a little bit and made fun of," said Lisa, who noticed that start to change at St. Charles. "He wasn’t bullied or anything, but when he went to St. Charles there really wasn’t any of that. It was a very inclusive environment and Thomas flourished."

A parent has shared an important reminder not to parent-shame this winter if you see a young child without a heavy winter jacket – because it may have to do with safety. 

MHS Canvases for Sale: We are in the process of updating canvas pictures that are displayed throughout Muscatine High School. Certain canvases are available for purchase based on Administration approval for $65. It would be helpful if you could provide a snapshot of the canvas and name(s) of subject on the canvas, as well as, where the canvas is displayed (Commons/Gym area, Auditorium, Ag, Science, etc.).  You will be notified if the canvas you are requesting is available and when to pick up.

I don’t want my own children to mock femininity. I don’t want them to laugh at "girly" things or to treat "girly" people as inferior. I don’t want them to turn their noses up at fashion or beauty, as if these outlets (despite their room for improvement) do not offer creative expression to the multitudes. They may someday reject traditional femininity (and things like the leopard print-hooded coat I dressed my eldest in this year along with it). In the meantime, however, I want to expose them to little things like dressing up so that they may learn there is nothing inherently wrong with doing so.

If you buy only one coat, a parka is the most versatile piece that will take you from the classroom to the playground in style. A high-quality winter coat with built-in insulation and waterproofing is the one winter gear essential worth the splurge. Look for jackets with adjustable hoods, sealed or lined seams, waterproofing, reflective taping and insulating layers (many of which zip out for added versatility).
