MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) – The Knights of Columbus collected over 100 coats to make sure local children stay warm this winter. The coats were brought to the Boys and Girls Club Wednesday morning.

The weather outside might be frightful, but the kid clothing picks inside are delightful. Forget about those short-sleeved paper-thin bodysuits — while they’re ideal for warm summer days (or as a base layer under warmer clothes), they just won’t cut it on a cold, cold day. Bash had no problem walking through winter slush in these waterproof, fleece-lined, super stylish duck boots. We especially love how the side zipper makes them so easy for our little guy to get them on and off by himself!

If you’re caught out and about without spare clothes in that diaper bag, it isn’t any fun. Throw at least one extra swaddling blanket in there, too, which can be used as a spit rag, changing pad, actual blanket, sun shade, or hey, even a little baby makeshift toga in a pinch.

Amid sleep deprivation, sore muscles, and possibly being just out of time to fit in anything beyond the bare basics of life, a little outfit that’s tricky to get on and off is not going to be worth your time.

I have found it beyond helpful to try to create, or seize, moments of joy whenever possible, and particularly during the hard days. It’s crucial to have a constant: a small thing that you know beyond a doubt will bring a smile to your face, no matter how many disasters are going down around you.
