11. Child of Mine by Carter’s Pajamas ($7): This soft microfleece one-piece with its little reindeer footies is great for chilly mornings.

“These pajamas are so pretty and comfortable. I sleep so soundly when I wear them on a cold night. VERY NICE. They’re not baggy like a potato sack, nor bulky, but they are roomy and comfortable and look nice on me. I recommend shaking, then washing them before you wear them, because of the shedding. Make sure you wipe out your washer before you put a load in after them because they shed a little. These have very nice quality flannel.”

First, let’s consider that lovely umbilical cord stump, poking out from the tiny tummy for a few weeks after birth. Some newborn diapers have little swoop-down shapes in the front for this purpose, but I distinctly remember the nurses in the hospital always folding the front of the diapers downward before continuing to dress the baby, to avoid rubbing and snagging. My husband, funnily, kept in the habit of folding down the diaper long past when the stump fell off and the belly button made its appearance.

Rompers are the best. They are simple, easy to get on and off, and so cozy. While many parents only use these for pajamas, I often leave this on Max all day long, as it is just too comfortable.  For long travel days, this is my number one go-to as well. This romper paired with the down bunting by Patagonia (see below) is the ultimate winter combo for babies. When we go cross-country skiing or biking with him in his Chariot Modular Stroller, he is always in this romper.

Before launching her shop in September, she felt a lot of conventional baby stores “just threw stuff” out there.
