So, something that is new to us is old news to them. And it turns out, we had already seen Josh and Anna’s girls in pants before when they picked up a family friend at the airport. Now the question is, will they ever ditch the dresses and just wear the pants by themselves?

When it’s warm outside but raining, you want a jacket to protect you from the elements, but not suffocate you. Sure, you could use an umbrella, but that ties up one of your hands, drips when you get to your destination, and takes up space on crowded sidewalks or subways.

My favorite base layer fabric is merino wool. While more expensive, it is very warm in cold weather, stays cool in hot weather, is soft on the skin, is good for kids with allergies, and does not hold onto water or smells.

Based on my mom experience, I think the more diapering you’ve done, the easier it is to avoid — because you learn to work FAST.

I don’t want my own children to mock femininity. I don’t want them to laugh at "girly" things or to treat "girly" people as inferior. I don’t want them to turn their noses up at fashion or beauty, as if these outlets (despite their room for improvement) do not offer creative expression to the multitudes. They may someday reject traditional femininity (and things like the leopard print-hooded coat I dressed my eldest in this year along with it). In the meantime, however, I want to expose them to little things like dressing up so that they may learn there is nothing inherently wrong with doing so.
