It was also one of the lightest on test. He played football in it without getting sweaty, so I’d give it a good score for breathability. The hood is detachable, the side pockets are zipped and it has a decent reflective trim. Using it as their main spring-to-autumn jacket rather than as an occasional waterproof could help you justify the cost.
