This is a good no-frills waterproof set at a very decent price. It was the lightest on test and fits easily into a zip case, so it would work well for school day-trips or walks in the countryside. The waterproofing held up well enough on test though our tester said he felt colder in the rain in this jacket than the others, which makes sense as the fabric is thin and not especially breathable; none of this should matter if you have a decent jumper or fleece underneath though. As it’s only available in black, it’s not ideal for cyclists but there are reflective strips on the back.

It’s worth a mention that we had this trusty jacket this in our rotation last year and it held up perfectly for everyday wear. It even kept my toddler warm — thanks to its micro-fleece lining — while we trekked 10 blocks in a snowstorm to a play date!

For winter-born infants and cold-weather road trips, the car seat-specific warmers are a must. While many parents only use these for pajamas, I often leave this on Max all day long, as it is just too comfortable.  For long travel days, this is my number one go-to as well. This romper paired with the down bunting by Patagonia (see below) is the ultimate winter combo for babies. When we go cross-country skiing or biking with him in his Chariot Modular Stroller, he is always in this romper.
